Confidentiality
Your email address, and all information shared, will be kept confidentIal expect in the case where bound by law to disclose. If you are seeking reimbursement from your insurance company you will be asked to share information, including but not limited to, treatment and diagnosis with your insurance company.
LIMITS TO CONFIDENTIALITY:
Mental Health Professionals are required by law to notify the proper authorities if there is suspected child abuse or neglect, eldery abuse, abuse of a handicapped individual or when one threatens to harm themselves or another.
Counselors may be required to breach confidentiality if subpoenaed for court cases or legal proceedings.
Please also review the Privacy Notice on this site as it required by law to be provided to you under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
With using the internet your privacy cannot be guaranteed because it is not fail-safe. To better protect yourself, you might want to avoid sending email from your computer at work or your business email address, as your employer has the right to access and view your email. Also, when using your computer at home, make sure that you are the only person who has access to your email account. You may also want to consider using a password to access your computer. Consider deleting emails from your hard drive, and remember to empty your sent, trash, and recycle bin files as well. For internet security, you can download a free software fire wall. If this is a concern, perhaps phone sessions will be a better choice.
